The driver-killer from Sunny Beach had a 3-month license, and his mother and father were police officers. Only today was he detained for 72 hours.

The young driver is accused of negligently causing moderate bodily injury to 5 pedestrians, which occurred as a result of a traffic accident.

Commissioner Dimitrov indicated that the accused is a licensed driver and holds a driving license issued in May 2025. The vehicle that caused the traffic accident is duly registered and has passed an annual technical inspection.

Commissioner Dimitrov also emphasized the fact that, following a specific order from the director of the Burgas Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, an internal investigation has been launched, the subject of which will be the actions of the police officers who worked on the case, since after establishing the identity of N.B., it became clear that his parents are employees of the Nessebar Regional Department.

Here is the entire message from the Prosecutor's Office:

The Burgas District Prosecutor's Office detained N.B. for up to 72 hours. He is accused of negligently causing moderate bodily injury to more than one person - five pedestrians, as a result of a traffic accident. The case is classified as particularly serious. The criminal act was committed on 14.08.2025 on an alley next to the hotel “Meliya“ in the Sunny Beach resort. It is qualified under Art. 343, para. 3, b. “a“, vr. para. 1, b. “b“, vr. art. 342, para. 1 of the Criminal Code, vr. art. 20, para. 1 and art. 5, para. 1 of the Criminal Code. Details of the investigation into the case were provided to the media today by the Burgas District Prosecutor Maria Markova and Commissioner Marin Dimitrov – Director of “Security Police and Traffic Police“ at the Burgas Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The evidence collected to date indicates that there is a reasonable assumption that the accused, driving an electric motor vehicle, violated the traffic rules, as a result of which he left the roadway and caused an accident with the injured pedestrians. An auto-technical expert examination has been appointed for the pre-trial proceedings to establish the mechanism of the act, the speed of the vehicle, as well as whether it is in working order, announced Prosecutor Markova. Forensic medical examinations have also been appointed to qualify the type of injuries to the victims. The records of the incident, attached to the pre-trial proceedings, will also be the subject of expert examination.

Commissioner Dimitrov indicated that the accused is a licensed driver and holds a driving license issued in May 2025. The vehicle that caused the traffic accident is duly registered and has passed an annual technical inspection. The pre-trial proceedings will verify the order in which the vehicle was given for use by the commercial company of the accused person and whether the necessary documentation is available for this.

Commissioner Dimitrov also emphasized the fact that, following a specific order from the director of the Burgas Regional Police Department, an internal investigation has begun, the subject of which will be the actions of the police officers who worked on the case, since after establishing the identity of N.B. it became clear that his parents were employees of the Nessebar Regional Police Department.

The Burgas District Prosecutor's Office is about to submit a request to the Nessebar District Court for the determination of a preventive measure of "detention in custody" in relation to the accused.
