The incident this morning, when a tram derailed in front of a residential building and hit several cars, is worrying and understandably raised many questions among people. The most important thing is that no citizens were injured.
The emergency teams of the Sofia Municipality responded immediately and were on site to provide assistance and secure the area. I immediately ordered an inspection of “Stolichne Elektrotransport“ and requested full information from the management, including a review of the recordings from the cameras in the tram. The citizens of Sofia have the right to clarity and concrete answers, not assumptions.

People's safety is an absolute priority. If human error is found, I will insist on specific consequences and stricter control over compliance with the rules by all drivers. If there was external interference, responsibility will be sought uncompromisingly, with the assistance of the prosecutor's office.
I will also demand urgent measures to guarantee the safety of public transport, because citizens must move calmly and with confidence that the system works for their safety.
