The ATV that caused the death of Hristina in Sunny Beach: In 2021 it is 8100 km, in 2025 - 150 km.

"Now I will explain to you why this is so. Because one vehicle is presented with one registration number. De facto, however, the registration number refers to a completely different vehicle, as we most likely assume happened in this particular case," explained Diana Rusinova from the ECTP

In recent months, accidents with ATVs and scooters have become more frequent. Some of them ended tragically. Are there rules for renting them and is any qualification required to get on them?

„The control of this type of vehicle is extremely low. Some of them go for registration as agricultural machinery, and the other part is subject to registration - just like motorcycles, for example, or passenger cars“. Diana Rusinova from the European Center for Transport Policies told bTV.
She also commented on the ATV that Hristina, who later died, was hit by in Sunny Beach.
“We received very interesting information there through our reporting platform that there is actually a problem, since this vehicle has been undergoing technical inspection for 5 years. On August 10, it passed for the first time and it has 816 km. In 2021, the kilometers become 8100 on this vehicle. In 2023, they are 3137. And in 2025, the vehicle has 150 km“, the road expert pointed out.
“Now I will explain to you why this is so. Because one vehicle is presented with one registration number. De facto, however, the registration number refers to a completely different vehicle, as we most likely assume happened in this particular case“, explained Rusinova.

“Currently, a system is in place and the moment this vehicle - the mileage does not match the previous year and the kilometers are less, a red alarm starts to flash in the Executive Agency. And we ask, if this was the case, why is it that no one paid attention, no one checked this company's vehicles to see how they passed inspection“, she added.

Today, the long-awaited repair of the section where Siyana died began.
“As you know, we came out with a report that shows quite significant safety-related deficiencies, such as vegetation that has not been cleaned for years, low adhesion of the asphalt pavement, ruts, lateral displacement of the asphalt - all things that made the road very dangerous. And of course, our insistence was that these problems be corrected and eliminated, which happened today“, Rusinova pointed out.
