The results of the water quality tests from the first well that was discovered, which is looking for new water sources for Pleven, should be released on Friday. If the results are good, the well will be included in the water supply network. This was stated by the new regional governor of Pleven, Martin Machev. He was appointed by the government on Wednesday.
Repairs of problematic pipes in the water supply network are beginning. However, the water crisis in Pleven is far from being solved and people in the city only have water for a few hours in the morning and evening. It is yet to be determined how much water is being lost due to theft and poor infrastructure.
"Schools have started ordering water pump systems, water has been provided for all schools, kindergartens and nurseries, which is very important for the children to attend and have normal classes", Macev told BNT.
"Most of the loss is from water leaks, not thefts, they are still being established, checks are being carried out based on signals from citizens with representatives of the Water and Sewerage Authority and the authorities that can take measures", added Emil Peev, the chairman of the crisis headquarters.
