Vuсhаrеѕt-Ѕud Airport will be located 24 km away. from Bucharest and 43 km. from the Bulgarian city of Ruse. It will be located on the territory of Adunati-Kopacheni – a city located in the Gyurghevo region. The investment is worth EUR 2 billion. It is expected that, after being put into operation, the new airport will be used not only by Romanians, but also by many Bulgarians who live in the Danube city and the northern part of Bulgaria.
The project is currently at the pre-project study stage, which has been assigned to Sonsrete & Dеѕіgn Ѕоlutіоnѕ and Urbаn Ѕsore and the French company ЅЕTES. It will end in August.
Initially, the airport will serve 11 million passengers, and its maximum design capacity is to increase their number to 20 million people per year. 30,000 tons of cargo will pass through the new airport annually.
The implementation of the project is expected to begin in the fall of 2025, and the construction itself will take 3 years from the moment the construction order is issued.
The new airport will have 4,500 parking spaces, aircraft maintenance hangars, ground equipment and more.
