With the activation of the construction season, the General Labor Inspectorate (GIT) has launched a new extraordinary campaign in the Construction sector, which is risky both in terms of labor safety - with high levels of occupational injuries and the use of undeclared labor. For its more effective implementation, labor inspectors from the territorial directorates will be seconded to other districts and cities where there are a large number of construction sites. The campaign will last until June 13, 2025.
When implementing the control activity, the main emphasis will be on ensuring healthy and safe working conditions when working on a construction site, including its safety in order to prevent occupational injuries. Compliance with the regulatory requirements for the emergence of employment relationships will also be checked of workers and employees working on the sites.
Due to the identified risks in the overall implementation of labor legislation in construction, year-round enhanced control of construction sites is guaranteed, and a special measure is planned in the annual activity plan of the Agency. If necessary, such as an established increase in occupational injuries or data on an increase in the volume of construction activities, inspection and information campaigns are also planned.
Since the beginning of the year, labor inspectors have carried out 3,328 inspections in the sector, during which 14,890 violations of labor legislation were established. Of these, 11,049 concern the provision of healthy and safe working conditions. Violations affecting the implementation of labor relations are 3,766. The established cases of work without an employment contract in construction are 464, compared to 1,257 in all economic activities.
The measure of stopping sites, machines and equipment in the sector has been implemented 375 times out of 469 times in total in all sectors. 18 workers were suspended from work due to lack of legal capacity and/or failure to comply with safety rules. Both measures are preventive in nature to prevent serious work accidents that can lead to death or permanent disability.
