Another attack on an Emergency Medical Team. On Friday in Burgas, a 51-year-old man in a visibly intoxicated state attacked two ambulance drivers, first verbally, and then pulled out a gun, which he pointed at one of the drivers.
The incident occurred in close proximity to the University Hospital for Active Treatment in the seaside town, and the reason - the man was unable to pass between the two ambulances.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
„We were returning from an address, going to the shock room of the University Hospital, to take over the other address that was given to us. I had a problem with the ambulance's on-board computer. When passing my colleague, I slowed down and almost stopped. I asked him if this would cause me a problem, he said no and that I should continue. I continued. There was no one in front of me, no one behind me. I stopped to ask my colleague. Then I saw that a car stopped, and the man started honking and screaming. I asked him: “Can't you wait 3 seconds?”. From there, swearing and threats began. I tried to get out, he took out a wrench and started hitting the ambulance with it”, said Klementin Milchev. He added that his hand was slightly injured. The man also took out a gun.
“There was a bag in which he reached, took out a gun, loaded it and pointed it at me. I took 2 steps back”, said Milchev. He pushed a boy who was trying to help in the situation.
“The boy told him to put the gun away. And he pointed it at him”, Milchev said.
The attacker also hit the other ambulance driver. He then ran away, running over the boy's leg, who tried to help.
“There were about 15 witnesses who tried to help”, Milchev said.
The police arrived immediately.
