A disabled car was stolen in Varna. The initial idea was to restore the car or disassemble it into parts. However, it turns out that a few days later it disappears, and the owner reports it to the police that it was stolen. The thief somehow manages to move the car to a recycling center, "Nova TV" reported.

A month ago, Stefan Dobrev disabled his mother's damaged car. “It so happened that due to my negligence, the engine gasket burned out. And I moved the car to the Ring Road, near a company that could restore it," says the victim Stefan Dobrev.

The car is more than 30 years old, but it is difficult to raise money for repairs, since Stefan's mother is seriously ill, and the treatment is not cheap at all.

„And the money still did not manage to buy the car. After all, the health of our loved ones is more important," says the man.

So the car, which is stopped from traffic, remains where it is parked for a while, until the man decides whether it makes sense to repair it or disassemble it into parts. He periodically visits the place, but one day he is unpleasantly surprised. "When I went to pump up the tires, I found that the car was gone," says Stefan.

At first he was surprised. He even thought it was some kind of joke, but… the car turned out to be stolen. And indeed - shortly after he filed a report with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police identified and detained the thief.

“The perpetrator is from the active criminal contingent of the II Regional Police Department - Varna. He has numerous criminal records. He has been convicted of similar crimes“, said Todor Valov, the “Criminal Police“ sector at the ODMVR - Varna.

Unfortunately, Stefan's car had already been disassembled. “The theft itself was carried out using a platform. That is, the car was loaded onto it“, the uniformed man points out.

And he adds: “It was transported near Varna, where it was broken into many smaller parts in a private yard. Then it was taken back to the city by transport, where it was sold at a point for ferrous and non-ferrous metals“.

“Complete absurdity”: A car left at a car wash was stolen, then found, but deregistered at the owner's expense

And since there is a crime – there is also a punishment. “Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated for this crime, for which a punishment of 1 to 10 years is provided. It varies depending on the value of the stolen goods and the profile of the perpetrator“, explains Valkov.

And the victim insists: “Apparently this is not a precedent. I am convinced that these people have other similar offenses – to be punished with the full severity of the law“.
