The Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office has charged a 52-year-old man, one of the owners of a private hospital in the city, with stealing a huge sum of money. Investigators have evidence that nearly 3.3 million leva were taken from the cash register at the medical facility.
The incident began early in the morning on December 8. According to the prosecutor's office, the accused entered the building and broke into his partner's office, later providing physical security in front of the premises.
"On December 8, note at 5:00 in the morning, the accused entered the hospital, unlocked the victim's private office and settled inside," said District Prosecutor Petar Petrov. According to him, at around 7:00 a.m., two people were physically guarded in front of the office door.
It was initially established that the cash register contained an amount in three types of currency with a leva equivalent of about one million and 800 thousand leva. However, during the investigation, evidence was collected for a total loss of 3,276,000 leva.
The police have taken extensive action to document the crime, including an examination of the hospital's video surveillance cameras.
Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Affairs and Communications - Plovdiv Plamen Ivanov confirmed that investigators have a solid evidence base.
"A large amount of material evidence, expressed in video camera recordings, has been seized. By December 17, a large-scale action had been taken, including operational and search measures," Plamen Ivanov announced.
At the moment, the 52-year-old owner has been brought in as a defendant. Work on the case continues under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, clarifying the motives and the exact mechanism of the act committed in the private clinic.
