The Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office has charged I.I., 28, with causing the death of his minor son - a two-month-old baby - on February 26, 2026, in the village of Zhelyazno, Plovdiv region, a crime under Art. 116, para. 1, item 3 and item 4, in conjunction with Art. 115 of the Criminal Code.
On February 26, 2026, at around 12 noon, a report was filed on 112 about a dead baby - a 2-month-old boy in a house in the village of Zhelyazno, Plovdiv region. Police officers and a medical team arrived and determined the child's death.
A forensic examination determined that the boy died from head injuries, ribs, and facial bruises. During the investigation, evidence was collected that the baby had been hit on the head with a hard object by I.I., his father.
During the pre-trial proceedings, material evidence was seized, and an expert examination was ordered to establish the specific mechanism of the crime.
I.I. was detained for up to 72 hours by a decree of the supervising prosecutor. At the request of the Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office, the court took a preventive measure of "detention in custody" against him.
