The District Court in Plovdiv changed today the remand order of Georgi Georgiev to house arrest arrest, reported NOVA.
He is accused of assaulting Deborah Mihailova from Stara Zagora.
Yesterday was another hearing in the “Debora” case. A key witness was questioned - the taxi driver who took Georgi to Deborah's home on the evening when the young girl was cut with a dummy knife.
Georgiev's lawyer Petko Kanev commented that the accusation against his client is collapsing. According to him, the indictment states that the witness himself drove the defendant to a specific address in Stara Zagora. However, from the testimony he gave today, the address in question was given to him by the police.
We remind you that the defendant Georgi Georgiev is charged with three charges - for threatening to kill Deborah Mihailova, for having forcibly cut off her hair and for inflicting 18 cuts on her with a dummy knife. Meetings are held behind closed doors. At the end of July, the District Court decided to place the accused under house arrest. A month later, however, Georgiev was returned to custody.
