Customs officers from TD Mitnitsa Ruse found 3.685 kg of investment gold and gold castings in the cabin of a truck during inspection in the area of Danube bridge 2 - Vidin.
On November 29, 2024, around 6:00 p.m., customs officials from the “Combating drug trafficking Vidin” they stop for inspection in the area of the Danube Bridge border crossing – A truck with a foreign registration, driven by a Turkish citizen with the initials D.K., was seen entering the country. The truck was transporting goods on a route from Switzerland to Turkey and the driver stated that there was nothing else to declare.
During the customs inspection, the inspectors found packages wrapped in black foil under the pillow of the bed in the driver's cabin and in the lining of the jacket. The packages were found to contain 4 bars of 100 grams of investment grade 999.9 gold - each with a serial number, as well as 3 gold ingots weighing 3285 grams.
The articles of gold with a total weight of 3685 grams for detainees. Work on the case continues. The detention was carried out within the framework of the joint anti-smuggling operation, with the participation of teams from the "Customs" Agency, DG "Border Police", DG "Combating Organized Crime" and National Revenue Agency.
