The Haskovo District Court has sentenced 46-year-old Mexican Victor Omar to a life sentence with a special regime. He was found guilty of the murder of MMA fighter Turgay Sali.
According to the indictment, on February 13, 2022, at around 1:10 a.m., Omar shot Sali in Haskovo in complicity with unknown instigators and helpers. The victim died the next day in a hospital in Plovdiv.
The investigation found that Sali was attacked in front of his home. During his lifetime, he told investigators that the attacker was a foreigner and that the murder was ordered by a person serving a sentence in Greece.
Two witnesses have confirmed this version, and it is believed that the guarantors are in a Greek prison, from where Omar was released in the fall of 2021.
In addition to imprisonment, Omar was sentenced to pay Sally's parents blood money in the amount of 500,000 leva with interest, as well as 8,000 leva for legal fees.
In addition, he must cover the costs of the case - 20,456 leva, as well as a state fee of 40,000 leva. The verdict can be appealed before the Court of Appeal in Plovdiv.
