A Yorkshire terrier puppy was literally torn apart by two German shepherds. They are owned by former football player Yordan Lechkov. Another similar incident occurred on a sports field in Sliven, and the large dogs were without muzzles, Nova TV reported. On Monday morning, citizens went out to a kind of protest in front of the Municipality building.
Miglena is the owner of the Yorkie Sami. The puppy is alive, but in very serious condition. “There are a lot of children on the field. Mine also go there every day”, says the woman. On Wednesday, she went to pick up her children from sports. “Suddenly, several German shepherds appeared and attacked Sami. I pulled the leash, but only the bib remained in my hand. I went into shock and started screaming. All his insides were outside. The dogs were not tied up,” says Miglena. All the children witnessed the horrific situation.
The same German shepherds killed another man’s 2-year-old puppy in the same place years ago. He filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office, but the ruling was that the act was not a crime. The state prosecution warned the owner of the aggressive animals and he committed to taking them out only with muzzles. “As you can see, this does not happen,” said the owner of the dead puppy.
The Sliven Municipality said it would launch an investigation into the case. Yordan Lechkov expressed regret for the incident, but stressed that there are signs in the area prohibiting walking dogs. However, according to Miglena, the signs were put up two days after her dog was attacked.
