The 19-year-old accused of the accident in Razgrad, in which a car crashed into a restaurant and three customers were killed, was released under house arrest. The decision is up to the District Court in Razgrad. Camera recordings in the area showed the entire path of the accident until the fatal blow, and the prosecution requested permanent detention for the accused, Nova TV reported.
Journalists were not allowed into the courtroom to hear the District Court's reasons for imposing a lighter measure, even though the case was opened.
The state prosecution requested permanent detention and has yet to decide whether to protest this decision.
The supervising prosecutor will analyze the reasons and decide whether to protest the measure of detention before a higher instance.
"The court's reasons are the young age of the person, the lack of antisocial behavior, and the lack of convictions. We will analyze the motives and decide whether to attack this ruling”, said Radoslav Batanov, deputy district prosecutor-Razgrad.
The daughter of one of the victims indicated that they were not notified that the young man had been released and expressed dissatisfaction with the decision.
According to unconfirmed information, people from Razgrad claim that the mother of the 19-year-old is a court employee. And there is still no answer why, despite the high public interest, the hearing for his detention measure remained closed.
