The court in Athens has charged a Bulgarian citizen with participation in premeditated murder, BNR reported.

At the request of the Athens Prosecutor's Office, the court imposed a preventive measure of "detention in custody" on the Bulgarian. He is charged with participation in a criminal organization to commit murder. The court did not accept as a mitigating circumstance the defendant's position that he did not know that he was participating in a premeditated murder.

According to investigators, the Bulgarian participated in concealing evidence of the crime in order to mislead the police about the perpetrator. For this, the perpetrator was to receive 50 thousand euros.

The other four people arrested in the same case are also facing serious charges.

The killer admitted that he was the perpetrator of the crime, but that he did not want to kill the 43-year-old university professor and Polish citizen, but only to threaten him so that he would give up his children.

The victim's wife, who, according to the investigation, organized the attempt on the victim, is also in prison. The victim's children and his arrested wife have been handed over to social services.

The case shocked the Greek public due to the brutality of the murder.
