Employees of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (RD of the Ministry of Interior) - Blagoevgrad have destroyed nearly two tons of cannabis, the police press center announced. About 951 cannabis plants with a total weight of about 1,795 kilograms were destroyed, discovered during joint actions carried out on August 12 by forensic experts at the RD of the Ministry of Interior-Blagoevgrad, teams of the Main Directorate “National Police“ and Specialized Aerial Surveillance Unit at the Main Directorate of the “Border Police“.
About 890 of the plants, with a total weight of about 1,725 kilograms, were planted in two separate fields in a forested area in the village of Belyovo, Sandanski Municipality, and 61 with a total weight of 70 kilograms were found in a separate field in the village of Churilovo, Petrich Municipality. After a field test, the plants reacted positively to cannabis and were destroyed on site in the presence of a commission. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the cases, the police also reported.
At the end of May, about 365 grams of amphetamine were discovered and seized. The substance was found in an envelope belonging to a 39-year-old resident of Blagoevgrad, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Blagoevgrad reported.
