During an investigation conducted in the area of the Customs checkpoint, Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport at the Ruse Customs Territorial Directorate, immediately after accepting a requested amount of money in the amount of 500 leva, the customs inspector from the checkpoint, I.P., 40 years old, was detained. The amount of money was requested from him in order to issue a document for customs clearance of road vehicles imported from the Kingdom of Norway at a lower customs value.
During the investigation, inspections, searches, and searches of various premises were conducted, documents were requested, the amount, the subject of the bribe, as well as other items were seized.
I.P. is brought as an accused for the fact that in the period from 11.07.2025 to 20.08.2025 in the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa in the capacity of an official – senior inspector in the Territorial Directorate of the “Customs“ Agency with place of work TD Customs Ruse, Customs checkpoint Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport, in the conditions of a continuing crime, he requested and accepted from G.P. a gift that is not owed to him – a sum of money in the total amount of 700 BGN, in order to perform an official act – to prepare protocols for customs inspection of road vehicles imported from Norway, owned by G. P., such as:
On 11.07.2025, he requested and accepted a gift that is not owed to him – a sum of money in the amount of 200 BGN, in order to perform an official act – to prepare a protocol for a customs inspection of a road vehicle – a light commercial vehicle “Volkswagen Transporter“, imported from Norway, owned by the same person;
On 20.08.2025, he requested and accepted a gift that was not due to him – a sum of money in the amount of 500 BGN, in order to perform an official act – to prepare protocols for a customs inspection of road vehicles – a caravan “Biolset“ and a trailer “Treadal“, imported from Norway, owned by the same person. Crime under Art. 301, para. 1, sentences 1 and 2, in conjunction with Art. 26, para. 1 of the Criminal Code.
I.P. has been detained for a period of up to 72 hours to bring him before the court, within which the prosecutor's office will request the adoption of a preventive measure “Detention in custody“.
