The European Film Academy honors Wim Wenders

The 79-year-old director will receive an honorary award for his outstanding work

Wim Wenders, the giant of German cinema who created films such as "Paris, Texas" and "Wings of Desire", will be honored for his "outstanding work" from the European Film Academy (EFA), reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

The director, who is 79, will receive the honorary award at the European Film Academy Awards ceremony on December 7 in Lucerne, Switzerland, the EFA said.

Wenders was born in Düsseldorf in 1945 and now lives in Berlin. He is the author of dozens of feature films and documentaries after his debut "Summer in the City" since 1970

In 1984, he won the "Golden Palm" in Cannes with "Paris, Texas", three years later he triumphed again with "Wings of Desire". His 1999 documentary "Buena Vista Social Club" it was also well received by critics and audiences. He has been nominated for an "Oscar" award several times, including last year for his film "Beautiful Days".

Wenders is one of the founders of EFA and was its president from 1996 to 2020.
