Today we say goodbye to Kiril Marichkov. The rock legend died on Friday evening before the start of a concert in the village of Selanovtsi in Vratsa after an accident when he fell from the stage. The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. in the capital's "Saint Sophia" church, BNR reported.

Kiril Marichkov left this world 20 days ago at the age of 80. Often described as a rebel and a leader, the "Foundation" group, with which he worked for 11 years, called him a friend and a teacher. He started his career in 1962 with “The Bandarats“ - one of the pioneer groups of Bulgarian rock. 40 years of “Crickets” and the record over 2,600 concerts, dozens of albums and countless tours.

Kyril Marichkov is the author of more than 150 songs, and hits such as “Rock in the Past Time“, “Taste of Time“, “The Horseman“, “Oath“, “Hamlet“, “Zodiy Cricket“ ; his fans will always remember. He is also behind the music of 14 films, including “Yesterday“, “Adio Rio“, “Danube Bridge“.

"I am very happy when I see that people are smiling and happy with what I do. The rudeness that surrounds us, the spiritlessness does not apply to the audience of "Crickets" - words of the great singer and bassist in one of his last interviews for BNR.

Pilgrimage also in Dupnitsa

On the day of his funeral, fans of Kiril Marichkov will also gather in Dupnitsa. The organizer of the event next to the Fountains in the city center is the "Close to you" association. Those who wish will have the opportunity to play guitars together and sing their favorite songs by Marichkov and "Crickets". The start of the event is scheduled for 12:30 noon.

"We have invited a DJ who will play a few songs. Anyone who wants can play the guitar and also sing to honor the Patriarch of Bulgarian rock," an activist of the association told BNR.

At the same time, in Kyustendil they showed a rare value - a card with Kiril Marichkov's autograph from the early 70s, when the "Crickets" they are not performing because Marichkov and the guitarist Petar Gyuzelev are in the barracks. As soldiers, the two then visited the city and played together with the ensemble of Construction Troops on the stage of the central local community center.
