Famous rock guitarist Steve Lukather, best known for his work in the band Toto, celebrated his 67th birthday.

Besides being a string master, Steve is also a vocalist, composer, arranger and producer.

He was born on October 21, 1957 in San Fernando Valley, California, USA. Even before his father bought him a guitar, he started playing drums and keyboards. “I love keyboards, I wrote all my songs on pianos. I find it much easier, you have all these great sounds and you play chords like God.“ , he noted in 1986

The guitar and the Beatles changed the young boy's life. “It was exactly the sound of the Beatles that captured my soul and I already knew what I had to do. I remember how George Harrison's solo and the sound of his guitar awakened something in me“, Lukater returns the tape in 1993

In the following years, Lukater learned to play the guitar. His old friends show him how to play and tune his guitar. In high school, he met David Paich and the Porcaro brothers (Jeff, Steve, and Mike), who were several years older than him. Jeff Porcaro and David Paich already have several live performances. “I was 15 when I started taking lessons from Jimmy Wible, he taught me to play classical music, jazz and country. I was very intrigued, it was the only thing I wanted to do in high school.” says Steve.

Peich and Porcaro asked Lukather to join in forming their new band Toto in 1976 along with Bobby Kimball, David Hungate and Steve Porcaro.

The rest, as they say, is history. Besides working with the band. Lukater has released numerous solo albums, and has countless appearances as a guest musician in the productions of his colleagues.
