September 27 is celebrated as World Tourism Day.
The holiday has been celebrated since 1980 by a decision of the third session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in Torremolinos, Spain (September 1979).
The World Tourism Organization celebrates the day with the aim of promoting the international community's awareness of the importance of tourism and its role in the development of the social, cultural, economic and political spheres of public life.
In 2015, for the first time, Bulgaria participated in a competition of the World Tourism Organization. Our country presented itself with the image clip "Bulgaria – A discovery to share”, presented in May during the World Wine Championship Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2015 in Jesolo.
