Scientists from the Altai State University, led by Doctor of Historical Sciences Nikolai Seregin, found in the Russian region the burial of a nomad with a ram's head, writes the edition "Rodina".

During the excavations of the Choburak I complex, located on the territory of an early monument in the Chemal region of the Altai Republic, a 1700-year-old necropolis was discovered. In it were found the remains of an old man, in the place of whose head was the skull of a ram. Scientists suggest that it was used in funeral rituals as a basis for making a mask. According to them, the man lived in the 4th century AD. His age corresponds to 30-35 years.

Researchers have noticed numerous signs of battle injuries on the bones of the nomads, which could have been inflicted by bladed weapons. “The recorded evidence of trauma indicates that the male part of the local group of nomads who left the Choburak I necropolis took an active part in military conflicts,” they explained.

Remains of a horse, weapons, horse equipment, tools and household items were also found in the crypt.
