Croatians dream of their bay being recognized as the world's smallest sea **** The Carinthian Sea has been marked as a s - 1

The people living by a beautiful Adriatic bay in Croatia they call the Carinthian sea, they hope that the place will be officially recognized as the smallest sea in the world, which would boost tourism and strengthen environmental protection, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The Carinthian Sea, which is located 30 km east of the coastal town of Zadar, is home to protected marine life such as dolphins and sea turtles. It is about six square kilometers in area and locals say it is so small that it can be swum across in just a few strokes.

Tomo Aracic, who is the director of the tourism association "Karina Riviera", said that there are plans to apply to the "Guinness World Records" to designate the Karina Sea as the smallest sea in the world. Currently, the smallest sea is the Turkish Sea of Marmara, which is connected to the Black Sea via the Bosphorus and to the Aegean Sea via the Dardanelles.

Guinness defines seas as “smaller bodies of water than oceans, but still large bodies of water partially surrounded by land and connected to an ocean."
