The chances of seeing Grigor Dimitrov back in action this season are decreasing, sportal.bg reported.
The best Bulgarian tennis player had announced his participation in the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna (October 20-26), but the organizers removed his face from the promo poster for the event. His name is also not on the list of participants for 2025.
Less than a week ago, the 34-year-old from Haskovo withdrew from participating in the ATP 250 in Stockholm, where he was expected to make his long-awaited return. Dimitrov continues to recover after surgery on a torn pectoral muscle. He suffered the serious injury during his match with Yannick Sinner in the fourth round of “Wimbledon” in early July.
Due to the long break, Grigor has fallen in the world rankings. Before the start of “Wimbledon” he was 21st in the ATP rankings, but on Monday he left the top 30 for the first time since 2023 and is now 32nd.
Last year, Grigor Dimitrov reached the round of 16 in Vienna, where he lost in a contested, beautiful and dramatic duet with the 27th in the world at that time Tomas Machac 7:6(5), 4:6, 3:6.
Now, only the last “Masters 1000” remains on the program of the first racket of Bulgaria and the 2025 season. It will be held in Paris from October 27 to November 2.
