Levski has firmly declared itself against racism. The club will seek assistance from the Bulgarian Football Union (GBU) in cases of racism on social media. Here is what the team management wrote:
PFC “Levski“ categorically condemns all forms of racism, xenophobia and discrimination – online and offline. In recent days, our striker Mustafa Sangare has received offensive and racist messages, and in recent months, other of our players have also reported similar events. The club stands firmly behind its players and will not tolerate hate speech.
We remind you that in previous cases, including around our visit to “Apoel“ (Beer Sheva), the club reacted immediately – A report was filed with UEFA, and we provided full assistance in identifying the perpetrators. At that time, the Israeli club was punished with a fine of 30,000 euros and partial closure of at least 500 adjacent seats for one home match.
From now on, in each specific case, “Levski” will immediately notify the competent authorities and football institutions and will provide full assistance in identifying the perpetrators and taking action according to the law. For manifestations of racism on social networks, the club will seek assistance from the “Cybercrime” Directorate at the General Directorate of the Bulgarian Anti-Corruption Bureau-Ministry of Internal Affairs in cases where the profile is anonymous or there is an attempt to conceal the identity of the author.
We call on everyone who witnesses or has information about similar manifestations against our football players to inform us through the club's official channels. “Levski” is a club of respect, equality and freedom - values that we will continue to defend without compromise.
