Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) won the hard court tennis tournament in the Japanese capital Tokyo. The competition had a prize fund of just over $1 million, BTA reports.
In the final, the 28-year-old Bencic defeated Linda Noskova (Czech Republic) 6:2, 6:3 in 82 minutes and took the tenth trophy of her career. In addition, she reached the first place in Tokyo, where she was the runner-up ten years ago.
The Swiss made three breaks in the match and did not lose her serve once.
"It was wonderful to play in front of you. The last time I won here was at the Tokyo Olympics, when the stadium was empty, so the atmosphere was completely different, but it was great to play for you. "I love playing in Japan, so I'm super happy to finally win this tournament," Bencic said after the match.
This is the Swiss' second title and the second time in the last three years that she has won multiple trophies in one season.
