Greece Olympiakos Piraeus beat Turkey's Fenerbahce with 3:2 in the first quarter-final of the Conference League, BTA reported.
The home team started the match with a bang, with Konstantinos Fortunis opening the scoring in the eighth minute. Shortly after half an hour of play, Montenegrin international Stevan Jovetic doubled for the Greeks. In the 57th minute, Cicinho made it 3:0 for Olympiakos after an assist from Ayoub El Kaabi.
However, that was not all in the match, because the giant from Istanbul managed to get two goals back before the end. In the 67th minute, ex-Ajax player Dusan Tadic scored from the penalty spot, and seven minutes later Irfan Kahvech made it 3:2 and gave serious hopes to the "lanterns" for the rematch in a week.
In the other early game of the tournament, Viktoria Pilsen and Fiorentina drew 0-0 in the Czech Republic. Matej Vydra and Tomas Chory scored for the hosts, while Lucas Beltran came closest to signing for team from Florence. Thus, the Italians, who last season lost the final of the tournament to the English West Ham, are in a better position for the rematch.
