French Olympique Marseille striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said after eliminating Benfica and qualifying for the semi-finals in the Europa League, that he is tired but very happy, BTA reported.
"I think we did an excellent job today. It wasn't easy, but we were patient, and that's very important in node matches when you have to know exactly what to do. We scored a goal in the 80th minute and in the end what happened is very good for the club and for the city", commented Aubameyang to the official website of the European football headquarters - UEFA.
Olympic Marseille will face Italian Atalanta in the semi-finals. The first meeting is on May 2, and the second leg is on May 9.
On the occasion of Faris Mumbanya's goal, which gave the French side a 1-0 lead in the second leg of the quarter-finals and leveled the aggregate of the two legs at 2-2, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said: "It was a huge moment for him . I'm very happy for him because I know he went through a rough patch for a few dates. But I'm very, very happy that he scored that goal and that we're moving forward."
"I told the boys that this will be one of our biggest games of the season and we will go all the way if we beat Benfica. We have a lot of injuries, but we saw that the young guys are ready and fit as well. We believe in them, and that's the good thing about football. It will be difficult, but we are keeping faith," Aubameyang concluded on Thursday evening.
