Seven people are detained in Belgium on suspicion of planning an attack at the Olympic Games in France, which begin tomorrow, reported local media, quoted by BTA.
According to the Belgian prosecutor's office, the raids carried out throughout Belgium were aimed at preventing the actions of suspected participants in a terrorist group. The court is yet to determine the detention measures for the detainees. It is specified that so far the possible goals of the suspected terrorists have not been established, nor the time in which they planned to act.
The prosecutor's office does not officially confirm that the case is related to the Olympic Games. It is explained that the detainees are adults, come from Central Asian countries and are supporters of the "Islamic State" group. (ID).
In 2015, attacks were carried out in France organized by a terrorist group composed mainly of actors from Belgium and supported by IS. A year later again IS associates carried out two terrorist attacks in Brussels.
