The second team of Danube (Ruse) will not participate in the upcoming championship of the North-Eastern Third league, reported Topsport.
The surprising unpleasant news came from Diyan Dimov, who is the president of the club.
"Dunav II coach Niko Petrov announced that he is leaving for personal reasons. There is no time to look for a new coach because the Third League championship starts on August 17. The team is not prepared. His performance last season was tragic. There is no way not to take into account the financing of this team," he told Sportal.
"We have gathered the entire leadership of the club, including the sports and technical one, as well as that of the children's and youth school. We discussed all the circumstances and united around the already announced decision. We are not closing Danube II", he added.
"The team will play in the championship of the A district group. If he wins, he will return to the Third League. Only going down to a lower competitive level is the change. We will continue to look after the second team. His product is the goalkeeper Daniel Nikolov, Dzhan Hassan, Kristiyan Gospodinov and Dimitar Todorov, who play in the first team," he added.
"The younger Stefan Stefanov, Kaloyan Ivanov and Nikola Totev, who also have matches in the men's team, are already training in it, Dimov said.
