Today is an incredible day for Bulgarian sport , Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev wrote on the official Facebook page of the Council of Ministers, BTA reported.
"A huge congratulations to Kimia Alizade, who won a historic first medal for Bulgaria in taekwondo! I am also happy from the bottom of my heart for the success of Bozhidar Andreev, who won bronze in weightlifting. I also congratulate Javier Ibanez for winning the bronze medal at the Olympics in the category up to 57 kilograms in boxing. I wish success to all our other athletes!", the post also says.
With great joy and pride, I want to congratulate Semyon Novikov and his team for the incredible success and winning a gold medal at the Olympics in Paris!, the Prime Minister wrote earlier about Semyon Novikov.
"His achievement is historic - the first Bulgarian medal in wrestling after 24 years. The last time this success was achieved by the great Armen Nazaryan in 2000 – when he won gold. Semen's perseverance and dedication are a real inspiration for everyone!", notes the acting prime minister.
President Rumen Radev also congratulated Semyon Novikov earlier today, who brought Bulgaria its first title from the Olympic Games in Paris.
The Bulgarian national Kimia Alizade won the bronze at the Olympic Taekwondo tournament in the category up to 57 kilograms.
Bozhidar Andreev took a bronze medal in the men's weightlifting category up to 73 kilograms.
Boxer Javier Ibanez won a bronze medal for Bulgaria at the Olympics.
Earlier today, Bulgarian national wrestler Magomed Ramazanov qualified for the final in the 86 kg freestyle category in his Olympic debut. He will challenge for the title against Rio 2016 champion and Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Hassan Yazdanicharati (Iran).
Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev will visit France on August 9 and 10 on the occasion of the XXXIII Olympics, the press service of the cabinet announced. The Prime Minister will visit the Bulgarian athletes in the Olympic Village.
