The young Bulgarian volleyball star Alexander Nikolov scored 20 points for the victory of the Italian Kucine Lube Civitanova with a 3:1 (25:21, 24:26, 25:16, 25:17) game over the Egyptian Al Ahly in the last match of group "A" of the World Club Championship, which is being held in the Brazilian city of Uberlandia, BTA reports.
Nikolov was the most productive volleyball player in the match, and the success qualified Lube for the semifinals of the tournament. In them later today, Lube's team will meet Trento's team, which finished as the winner of Group "B".
Lube needed a mandatory victory over Al Ahly, after after the first two rounds in Group "A" both teams achieved one win and one loss. The intrigue in the match was maintained until the second game, as the two teams exchanged one set. In the third and fourth games, however, the individual class of Lube's players came to the fore and they won them in a completely categorical manner - with 25:16 and 25:17.
Adis Lagumdzhia added another 17 points for Lube's victory, and Mattia Botolo finished with 12. Mohamed Asran distinguished himself in the ranks of Al Ahly with 15 points, while Ahmed Salah added 10.
