World Athletics continued the punishment of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions, the president of the international federation Sebastian Coe announced at a press conference, BTA reported.
"The World Athletics Council confirmed the recommendation of the working group regarding the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes. The Council accepted the current sanctions as normal and there is no need to replace or change them," Coe said, quoted by TASS.
Since March 2022, following the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine, Russian athletes have been deprived of the opportunity to participate in major international competitions, despite the updated recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus with neutral status.
