The elected chairwoman of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Vessela Lecheva, came out with a position related to the notarial invitation she sent with a request for the transfer of power, BTA reported.
In March of this year, Lecheva defeated Stefka Kostadinova in the elections for chairwoman, held during the General Assembly of the committee. After that, however, the election of the former sports minister was attacked in court, which has not yet ruled on the case.
„The notarial invitation is another attempt to implement the legal and legitimate decisions of the BOC Executive Bureau /held on April 3, 2025/, elected by the General Assembly on March 19, 2025. According to the BOC Statute, the decisions come into force immediately.
To date, there has been no court decision stating that this meeting is illegal. Also, to date, Ms. Stefka Kostadinova has not fulfilled a single promise of “full cooperation“ given to the media and the public and at the meetings held after March 19, 2025. Moreover, with her behavior she demonstrates that she will continue to disregard the will of the General Assembly.
In her actions, Vessela Lecheva is as open as possible both in her public behavior and in her relations with the media. She never planned to be in the BOC building on May 13, 2025. Tomorrow, Ms. Stefka Kostadinova can go to her workplace in peace.
In conclusion, we would like to emphasize again that from the first day after the General Assembly of the BOK and the convincing victory of Ms. Vessela Lecheva, Ms. Stefka Kostadinova has been dragging the BOK into an unworthy scenario,“ says the position of Vessela Lecheva.
