English Tottenham president Daniel Levy hopes to use the success in the Europa League as a springboard for more trophies, but did not clarify the future of manager Angelos Postecoglou in his message at the end of the season, reports the DPA agency, BTA reported.
Postecoglou brought Tottenham the long-awaited trophy with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao and thus inscribed his name in the club's folklore. The Australian has been the subject of intense speculation over his future after a turbulent Premier League campaign, but after leading Tottenham to their first trophy since 2008, he was given a standing ovation by thousands of fans at Friday's parade.
Levey paid tribute to Postecoglou in his end-of-season address to the fans ahead of today's visit to Brighton, but made no guarantees about the former Celtic manager's long-term future.
"This is a huge moment for the whole club, a historic achievement that has seen us lift our first European trophy since 1984," said Daniel Levy.
"We have been so close on so many occasions and we have never quite got over the line, but I have never given up the belief that success is just around the corner. I would like to thank Ange and the players for making this incredible achievement possible. "Thanks also to all our incredible staff - there is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes. I would also like to thank you - the fans - for being with us and for sharing the same belief," added the Tottenham chairman.
