The former owner and president of Levski Thomas Lafchis shared his opinion on the management of Nasko Sirakov, the performance of the "blues" last season and the future of the club. The winner of a title and a cup as a goalkeeper for the capital and three more championships and four Bulgarian Cups as a manager, spoke to "Tema Sport", quoted by sportal.bg, and about the construction of a new stadium and the big problem of domestic football.
„Debts are incurred when money is spent unwisely. The kind that you don't have. If they stretch out according to their own plan, there will be no bright future, because there is no way with the limited budget that Levski currently has, it can be compared to Ludogroets. Every fan wants the team to do well, but things are very unequal, especially financially.
"The Blues" have a large fan base, as well as CSKA. You saw how they filled the national stadium for the cup, now they are building a new arena. While Levski will also build a new one, but who will finance it? This is a huge expense, for 15 years they could not pay 5 million in taxes. I am pessimistic about this. If the state does not participate, it is absolutely impossible for a team to build a stadium.
I will bring up the topic again - in Romania they built over ten stadiums with between 15,000 and 60,000 seats. If these countries can afford to allocate 300-400 million per year separately from the budget for sports, such things should be possible in Bulgaria. But we only hear how many billions this or that costs, how much we will spend on armaments…
The situation in sports, education and medicine is catastrophic, but we want to spend billions on armaments. These are nonsense“, Lafchis said.
