We lose hundreds of millions of leva every year from fires in the value of homes, animals, forests. What happens to a person from a village whose house burns down... His life burns down. Then what does he do? This cannot be justified. Otherwise, it can really be considered as forests, as property. But all this is an additional aggravation of people's lives. Now, in the Trn region, they have not had drinking water for weeks, and they also had a fire. We are simply always in an explanatory mode when we talk about fires. This is a pathological condition of the state's organism. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ ecologist Toma Belev, co-chair of the “Green Movement“.
“Fires are a diagnosis that we have been talking about since 1993. Even then, we were trying to create an air unit to fight fires for two simple reasons. First, there are not enough people, because people started leaving Bulgaria and the villages were depopulated. Second, there are not enough roads, because you have ground equipment, but it does not help when the fire is high in the mountains. There is simply no way for the equipment to reach the fire. There was a Ministry of Disasters, Civil Protection was an independent unit, and now it is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And we are still arguing under which umbrella this air unit should be“, the guest also said.
