Protesting students: We will not overthrow the government on November 1st - 1

Protesting students in Serbia have announced that they have no intention of overthrowing the government on November 1st, and will then organize the largest commemorative event on the occasion of the tragedy in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad, where 16 people died when the canopy of a railway station collapsed last year, Nova TV reported, quoted by BTA.

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) announced that the European Union is behind the “riots in Serbia“, in which young people are participating, and that the anniversary of the fall of the canopy of the station will be used to hold the “Serbian Maidan“.

“There is still a month and a half left until November 1, and the Russians are already alerting us to the details of the protest, about which we ourselves still do not know the details. I do not know where they got the idea that someone would cause riots on that day, but it is clear that they announced this together with our authorities, who are no strangers to the violence that they have shown many times before. As soon as the European Parliament started talking about the student protests, the Russians were afraid that they would lose control over Serbia. "Everyone wants to watch us and work in their own interest," protesting students told Nova.

Russia's claims that the European Union is instigating the protests in Serbia are inaccurate, European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier said today.

Meanwhile, student Bogdan Jovicic, who began a hunger strike in pre-trial detention, has been transferred to hospital, students from the Faculty of Technical Sciences reported on Instagram.

Jovicic was detained after a protest on August 14 in Novi Sad and the destruction of the premises of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in the city. As his mother reported yesterday, he had not eaten for six days, the "Danas" newspaper reported.

Jovici began his hunger strike after learning that his detention had been extended for another month.
