The Civil Defense in Gaza reported several Israeli strikes on the Palestinian enclave after it was announced last night that Israel and "Hamas" had agreed on a ceasefire plan, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
"Following the announcement of the agreement tonight on the proposed framework for the ceasefire, several explosions were reported, particularly in areas in northern Gaza", said Mohammed al-Mughayir, a representative of the service, and mentioned "a series of massive strikes on Gaza City".
Tonight, Israel and "Hamas" signed the first phase of the US-proposed peace agreement for the Gaza Strip, which allows for the release of all Israeli hostages, US President Donald Trump announced, quoted by Reuters.
"I am very proud to announce that Israel and "Hamas" have signed the first phase of our peace plan", Trump wrote on the social network "Truth Social".
"This means that ALL hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line as the first steps towards a strong, lasting and everlasting peace", the American leader added.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on the social network "Ex" that he would convene a cabinet meeting later today to approve the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. "A great day for Israel," Netanyahu wrote. "With God's help, we will bring all (hostages) home," he added.
