In less than 48 hours, Czech citizens raised donations to finance a long-range missile "Flamingo" for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reported, BTA reported.
"We are pleased to announce that the fundraising campaign for the Ukrainian missile type "Flamingo", which will be called DANA 1, has ended. 12,500,000 Czech crowns (513,781 euros) were raised in less than 48 hours. Thank you!", announced on the social network "Ex" the civic initiative "Gift for Putin".
In fact, the total amount exceeded all expectations. According to the project website, more than 8,500 donors have donated over 13.3 million Czech crowns (550,000 euros).
The rocket will be named in honor of Dana Drabová, a prominent Czech public figure, advocate for Ukraine and longtime head of the state nuclear safety agency, who died earlier this month.
Yesterday, the initiative organized a concert in Prague under the title "Thank you Dana!" to express gratitude to the campaign's supporters and honor Drabová's memory. The concert organizers recalled that immediately after the start of the large-scale invasion of Russia, Drabová joined "Gift for Putin" and has become one of the first ambassadors of the Ukraine Aid Initiative.
"We believe that Dana will be watching from above to make sure that the missile reaches its correct target somewhere in Russia," the organizers said.
Ukrainian missile manufacturer "Flamingo" has agreed to use the funds raised by the initiative to build one missile, which will be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces after the payment of the amount.
Czech citizens and organizations have previously donated a tank, a helicopter and other ammunition to Ukraine, Ukrinform reminds.
