Thousands gathered for the 30th "March for Angels" in Skopje in connection with the fire at a disco in Kocani, writes MKD.
People demanded justice and truth to come to light. The march started at noon at "Macedonia" Square, from where it continued to the Assembly, and then the participants headed to the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje.
"We need to understand why institutions are slowing down. No one should live with the thought that someone can be saved when they are not. No family should have to endure the pain that is the consequence of such omission, neglect or inaction. "We are trying to establish the truth, where the failures occurred, who did not react, what incentives were delayed," said a female protester.
According to the relatives of the deceased, the current investigation remains incomplete with unanswered questions and unclear circumstances.
The organizers of the march say they are aware that the path to justice will be long and difficult, filled with resistance and distorted intentions. However, they emphasize that if a common ground is found and everyone stands by each other, the system will have no choice but to act according to the demands of the people.
The case involves 38 defendants - 35 individuals and three legal entities. The trial will be held at a rate of two hearings per week, with initial dates set for November 19, 25 and 26.
The court announced that it would take enhanced security measures, including the presence of a medical team.
