US President Donald Trump has called on NBC to fire comedian and late-night talk show host Seth Meyers over his criticism.

“Myers has no talent and NBC should fire him immediately“, the US president wrote on his social media page TruthSocial. He described the host as “suffering from an incurable syndrome of insanity“.

The president noted that Meyers was seen in an aggressive state on the evening of November 15, possibly due to the declining ratings of his show.

In September, ABC canceled the late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely after comments about the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kimmel suggested that the shooter may have been a Trump supporter.

Kirk, 31, was shot on September 10 during a speech at a university in Orem, Utah. He died in hospital from his wounds. The conservative activist was a supporter of the US president. Trump noted that the deceased played an important role in his election campaign among young people. The murder suspect was arrested the next day.

Federal authorities have launched a massive crackdown on illegal immigrants in Charlotte, North Carolina's largest city, The New York Times reported.

According to the newspaper, US Border Patrol agents led by Gregory Bovino, who was in charge of operations against illegal immigration in Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California, have arrived in the city.

Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin confirmed to the publication that the agency has deployed additional forces to Charlotte to "ensure the safety of Americans" and ensure that citizens "can live without fear of criminal illegal immigrants who will harm their families or neighbors." She did not provide further details.

According to NBC News, the Border Patrol has already made arrests. Local authorities said that such measures “create unnecessary fear and insecurity in the community” and asked residents to remain calm and not engage in violence against law enforcement.

Bloomberg notes that Charlotte became the center of federal attention in August after the murder of Ukrainian refugee Irina Zarutskaya. American DeCarlos Brown stabbed the 23-year-old woman on a streetcar. She died at the scene from her injuries. The perpetrator was later detained and charged with murder. As US President Donald Trump pointed out, Brown is a repeat offender – the police have detained him at least 14 times before, but he has always been released on bail without having to pay any money.
