Britain and Norway will organize joint naval patrols to protect undersea cables from Russia, the Associated Press reports.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre held defense talks. A combined fleet of at least 13 warships will "hunt" Russian submarines and protect critical infrastructure in the North Atlantic.
This follows a 10 billion pound deal signed in August, in which Norway agreed to buy five British-made frigates. These Norwegian ships and eight British ships will operate together in the seas along NATO's northern flank.
As part of the agreement, the UK has agreed to use Norwegian missiles for the Royal Navy's surface fleet.
The UK claims that Russian naval activity around British waters has increased by 30% in the past two years.
