Iran's new supreme leader has called on the country's intelligence services to not allow "enemies at home and abroad" to feel safe, DPA reported, BTA reported.
The statement, issued by Mojtaba Khamenei in Aix, was made after the death of Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, assassinated in an attack this week.
"The remaining employees and personnel of this ministry," who performs confidential tasks should fill the void left by the minister's death, Iran's new supreme leader said.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public or released any audio or video messages since his election as the country's supreme leader on March 8, leading to speculation about his condition, DPA noted.
He took over from his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike over Tehran on the first day of the Israeli-US offensive on February 28. Mojtaba Khamenei also lost his wife, mother and son-in-law in the shelling.
According to the US government, Mojtaba Khamenei himself was wounded. Details are not yet known, DPA noted.
