Iranian embassies around the world have launched a series of social media attacks against US President Donald Trump over his recent expletive-filled threats, Politico reports.
Tehran attacked Trump after he vowed in an aggressive post on the social network Truth Social to hit Iranian civilian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, unless an agreement is reached to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day, all rolled into one, in Iran," he wrote. "There will be nothing like this!!! Open the strait, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell - JUST WATCH!".
The Iranian embassy in Thailand warned the president to watch his "language", while Tehran's embassy in Austria wrote: "When you listen to him, close your eyes... you can almost see a Stone Age caveman in zebra skins, brandishing a club and accepting savagery as everyday life". The Iranian embassy in India said: "Cursing and insulting is the way angry losers behave".
The Tehran embassy in Finland noted that Trump's post showed that he was "unfamiliar with proper social media etiquette and morality".
Several other X accounts posing as Iranian embassies in other countries also joined in "trolling".
But while the Austrian, Indian and Finnish embassies had gray marks indicating they were official accounts, others could not be confirmed as such.
Washington and Israel have been waging war on Iran for five weeks, eliminating the country's leadership and devastating its military infrastructure.
The end of the conflict, which has rocked global energy markets over Tehran's closure of key oil shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, is not in sight, despite Trump hinting that a deal with the Iranian regime is close.
