Ship passage through the Strait of Hormuz remains severely restricted - 1

Only one oil tanker and five dry bulk carriers have passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours, despite Iran and the United States reaching an agreement for a two-week truce. This is according to data from specialized shipping tracking platforms analyzed by Reuters, BTA reported.

The critical sea route remains virtually blocked since the start of US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28 and the subsequent blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. Only a few ships pass through the strait per day, according to data from "Kpler", "Lloyd’s List Intelligence" and "Signal Ocean" (Signal Ocean).

For comparison, market estimates show that an average of 140 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz per day before February 28.

After US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday that would temporarily open the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian and US officials are expected to meet in Islamabad tomorrow to negotiate a long-term peace agreement.

Iran's FARS news agency reported yesterday that Iran is considering withdrawing from a two-week ceasefire with the US over the ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
