Lebanon "is not aware" of any upcoming contact with Israel, Agence France-Presse reported, citing a Beirut representative, after US President Donald Trump announced that leaders of the two countries would talk today, BTA reported.
"We are not aware of any planned contact with the Israeli side and we have not been informed about it through official channels," the same source added.
Earlier, Trump said he was trying to "create breathing space" between Israel and Lebanon.
He added that the leaders of the two countries had not spoken for "about 34 years". But the leaders of Israel and Lebanon had not maintained contact even then, AFP noted.
"A ceasefire is expected soon between Israel and "Hezbollah", the British edition "Financial Times" reports, citing Lebanese officials. According to the sources of the edition, it could be announced as early as this week, after Israeli forces take control of the key town of Bint Jbeil.
