US President Donald Trump said that talks between US and Iranian officials can continue by phone at any time.

“You probably heard that we canceled the trip of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. We're not going to spend 15 hours flying to get a document that's not good enough for us“, the US leader said, speaking to reporters before departing from Palm Beach, Florida, for Washington.

“We'll work by phone; they can call us at any time“, the US president added. He also said the US "doesn't know who's in power" in Iran, but is prepared to "deal with whoever's in power". "They can call me anytime they want," Trump added.

US President Donald Trump claims that after the cancellation of the negotiators' visit to Pakistan, the US received a new proposal from Iran that "should have been better".

"The interesting thing is that as soon as I cancelled it, within 10 minutes we got new documents and they're much better, but that's not enough".

He also reiterated the idea that Iran "should not have nuclear weapons" and his position that the US "holds all the cards" in the negotiations.

Trump earlier canceled a visit by his special envoy Witkoff and his son-in-law Kushner to Pakistan for talks with Iran, citing the fact that the trip would take "too much time and effort."

Direct talks between the US and Iranian delegations were expected to take place on April 27 in Islamabad.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said before Trump's decision that Tehran did not plan to meet with US representatives during Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Pakistan. Baghaei stressed that Araghchi would meet only with senior Pakistani officials as part of Islamabad's mediation efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East.

On April 25, Al-Hadath TV reported that Araghchi had left Islamabad after talks with Pakistani officials. Hours later, it became clear that Tehran's first diplomat had landed in the capital of Oman, Muscat.
