The Czech Republic has granted permission for Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's plane to fly over to Moscow for the 81st anniversary of Victory Day celebrations.
This was announced by Czech Foreign Ministry spokesman Adam Cerge.
“The Slovak side sent a standard request for permission for Fico's plane to fly over to the Czech Republic, and it was granted without delay,“ the Czech Foreign Ministry spokesman said, as quoted by the Novinky news portal.
The Slovak PM plans to lay flowers at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on May 9, hopes to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He will travel to Moscow to pay tribute to the Red Army soldiers who died fighting against the Nazis to liberate Slovakia. Estonia and Lithuania,
Latvia and Poland have banned Fico's flight from passing through their territories for the commemoration celebrations in the Russian capital.
